Basecamp Files
Basecamp files support document and asset sharing inside projects. WorkSights captures file activity so teams can see when materials are uploaded and discussed without exposing file contents.
For connection steps, see Basecamp Setup.
What WorkSights Receives
WorkSights receives metadata for:
- File upload events
- Comments added to files
Basecamp supplies the file name, project context, event type, and timestamps. File contents, previews, and comment text are not included in Basecamp's API responses.
How Files Appear
WorkSights displays file activity using the Basecamp object path: Project → Docs & Files → File Name.
Uploading a file appears as a File Created event. Comments appear as metadata-only Comment Created entries referencing the file. Files use WorkSights's document-style activity icon for easy recognition.
Data Notes
File contents, previews, and comment text are never received. Activity appears only for mapped users and only for events that occur after the integration is connected. Timing depends on Basecamp's webhook delivery and WorkSights's processing window.
Troubleshooting
If Basecamp file activity is not appearing as expected:
- Confirm the affected user is mapped in the Users tab.
- Verify the activity occurred after the connection was established.
- If activity is delayed, allow time for both the webhook delivery and WorkSights processing steps to complete.
- For persistent issues, contact support via the in-app chat.
