Monday.com Integration Overview
The Monday.com integration brings item activity from your boards into the WorkSights timeline. Once connected, WorkSights receives events whenever items or their fields are created or updated and displays them as structured entries tagged with Monday.com's purple color.
Historical data is not imported. WorkSights receives activity from the point of connection onwards, board by board, as each board's webhook is registered.
For connection steps, see Monday.com Setup.
What WorkSights Receives
Item activity
WorkSights captures item creation, moves, archiving, deletion, restoration, and field changes including status, assignee (People columns), dates, and other standard column values. Only activity that occurs after a board’s webhook is registered will appear. Monday.com’s existing items and history are not imported on connect.
Subitems
Subitem creation, field changes, moves, and archive/delete events are captured under the parent item’s hierarchy, using the same Task category and consolidation rules as items.
Updates
Each update or reply on an item appears as a separate activity unless it falls within the same consolidation window as other activity on that item. Update and reply text is received and used to populate the activity, and edits to an update replace the previous text rather than stacking as new entries.
Users
WorkSights imports Monday.com workspace members and matches them to WorkSights users by email address. Mapping is refreshed daily.
Guests and external collaborators
Monday.com guests are not mapped as scored WorkSights users. If a guest’s email matches a known client contract, their activity appears as client-authored activity on ClientSights rather than as scored WorkSights activity. If a guest does not resolve to either a mapped WorkSights user or a known client contact, their events are not captured.
WorkSights does not ingest Monday.com Docs, dashboards, or board structure changes beyond the activity types listed above.
How Monday.com Activity Appears
Monday.com activity appears in two categories in WorkSights: Task and General. Item activities show the board and item hierarchy in the title: Board > Item > Action. The action reflects what happened: item created, status changed, assignee changed, moved, archived, deleted, or restored. Rapid field changes on the same items (renames, column, status, or value changes) fold into a single Board > Item > Updated activity, with the detail field accumulating the specific changes rather than creating separate entries for each edit.
Subitems follow the same pattern as items, appearing under their parent item’s hierarchy. Subitem creation, field changes, moves, and archive/delete events are captured the same way standard items are. One difference: Monday does not support webhooks on subitem-only boards, so boards made up entirely of subitems cannot send activity to WorkSights. See Troubleshooting below.
Updates (Monday’s built-in comment/reply feed on an item) appear with the item hierarchy in the title, ending in Create/Edit Update, and are categorized as General rather than Task. If an update is edited after posting, the latest text replaces the earlier version in WorkSights rather than appearing as a separate entry.
Integration Page Overview
The Monday.com integration page contains three tabs:
- Overview - Connection details and integration owner
- Users - Monday.com users mapped automatically by email
- Connections - Connected Monday.com accounts
Data Notes
WorkSights accesses Monday.com through OAuth authorization. The integration is read-only. WorkSights does not receive Monday.com Docs content, dashboard configuration or board structure beyond registered activity types, or activity from boards made up entirely of subitems. WorkSights cannot access anything the connected Monday.com user does not have permission to see in Monday.com.
Troubleshooting
Monday.com activity is not appearing
Confirm the affected user is mapped in the Users tab. WorkSights matches users by email, and if the email in Monday.com differs from the email in WorkSights, the user will not be mapped automatically.
A board's webhook may not yet be registered, particularly if the board was created after the integration was connected. Registration re-runs automatically during the daily user sync; reconnecting the integration also triggers an immediate registration sweep.
If the board is a subitem-only board, it cannot receive webhooks at all. Monday.com does not support this, and no workaround is currently available.
Activity appears delayed
This is expected. Activity is captured in real time but processed in batches roughly every 20 minutes. If it has been longer than that with no new activity appearing, check user mapping and webhook registration first.
You're seeing a lot of Updated activity and not much else
This is expected behavior. Rapid field changes on the same item within a short window are intentionally grouped into a single Updated activity rather than shown as separate entries.
Guest activity isn't appearing on ClientSights
The guest's email may not match a known client contact for that account. Client-authored activity only appears when a Monday.com guest's email resolves to an existing ClientSights contact.
Events suddenly stopped
The connecting user's Monday.com access may have changed, or the integration's authorization may need to be refreshed. Reconnecting the integration resolves most cases. If the issue persists, contact us at success@worksights.ai
