Basecamp Comments
Comments in Basecamp support discussion across messages, to-dos, files, and other project elements. WorkSights captures comment activity to show where collaboration is taking place throughout the day without exposing what was said.
For connection steps, see Basecamp Setup.
What WorkSights Receives
WorkSights receives metadata for:
- New comments
- Updates to existing comments
Basecamp transmits the project context, parent object reference, event type, and timestamps. Comment text is never included in Basecamp's webhook payloads.
How Comments Appear
WorkSights displays comments as timeline entries linked to the relevant Basecamp item using the path: Project → Object Type → Object Name.
Each entry shows the object the comment belongs to, the activity type (comment created or updated), and the mapped user who performed it. Comments use WorkSights's discussion-style icon to keep collaboration signals visually distinct.
Data Notes
Comment text is never received or stored. Activity appears only for mapped users and only for events that occur after the integration is connected. Timing depends on Basecamp's webhook delivery and WorkSights's processing window.
Troubleshooting
If Basecamp comment activity is not appearing as expected:
- Confirm the affected user is mapped in the Users tab.
- Verify the activity occurred after the connection was established.
- If activity is delayed, allow time for both the webhook delivery and WorkSights processing steps to complete.
- For persistent issues, contact support via the in-app chat.
