Linear Setup
WorkSights connects to Linear through OAuth authorization at the workspace level. Setup takes a few minutes and requires workspace admin access in Linear to authorize the WorkSights app.
For an overview of how Linear activity appears in WorkSights, see Linear Overview.
Connecting Linear
Step 1: Connect in WorkSights
- Go to Services in the top navigation
- Find Linear in the list and click Connect
Step 2: Authorize WorkSights in Linear
Linear will open the workspace authorization page. Review the requested permissions and click Authorize to grant WorkSights access to your Linear workspace.
WorkSights installs at the workspace level. The webhook subscription is created automatically at this point. No additional configuration is required in Linear.
Step 3: Review user mapping
This step is important to complete before your team starts working in Linear. Linear webhook events identify users by ID rather than email. WorkSights matches those IDs to WorkSights users by email address at connection time. If events arrive before user mapping is complete, those activities may not be attributed to the correct user.
Open the Users tab to review mappings. For any user that did not map automatically, select the correct WorkSights user from the dropdown to complete the mapping.
Only mapped users will have their Linear activity displayed in WorkSights.
What Happens Next
Once connected and users are mapped, WorkSights begins receiving Linear activity in real time as your team creates and updates issues, leaves comments, and makes project changes.
If your organization has more than one Linear workspace, connect each one separately from the Services page. Each workspace requires its own OAuth authorization.
User mappings and connection settings can be reviewed and updated at any time from the integration page.
