Basecamp Messages

Basecamp messages support structured communication within projects. WorkSights captures message activity so teams can see when project communication is happening without exposing message content.

For connection steps, see Basecamp Setup.

What WorkSights Receives

WorkSights receives metadata for:

  • Message creation
  • Message updates
  • Comments added to messages

Basecamp provides the message subject, project context, and timestamps. Message bodies and comment text are not included in Basecamp's webhook payloads.

How Messages Appear

WorkSights displays message activity using the Basecamp object path: Project → Message Board → Message Subject.

A created message appears as a Message Created event. Updating a message subject appears as a Message Updated event. Comments on messages appear as separate entries referencing the message they belong to.

Messages use WorkSights's communication-style activity icon for clear visual recognition.

Data Notes

Message bodies and comment text are never received. Activity appears only for mapped users and only for events that occur after the integration is connected. Timing depends on Basecamp's webhook delivery and WorkSights's processing window.

Troubleshooting

If Basecamp message activity is not appearing as expected:

  • Confirm the affected user is mapped in the Users tab.
  • Verify the activity occurred after the connection was established.
  • If activity is delayed, allow time for both the webhook delivery and WorkSights processing steps to complete.
  • For persistent issues, contact support via the in-app chat.
