Rocketlane Integration Overview

Rocketlane connects your professional services delivery platform to WorkSights, turning time entries into continuous delivery signals across your projects and tasks. WorkSights polls your Rocketlane account every 15 minutes and builds a structured picture of how time is being spent across clients, projects, and team members, without requiring any changes to how your team works in Rocketlane.

For connection steps, see Rocketlane Setup.

What WorkSights Receives

WorkSights ingests time entries from Rocketlane on a 15-minute polling cycle. Each time entry carries the full project hierarchy inline, so WorkSights can attribute work at the client, project, and task level without additional configuration.

When a connection is established, WorkSights imports the last 7 days of time entries as an initial backfill. After that, only new and updated entries are ingested.

WorkSights does not receive task descriptions, file attachments, project financials, or any personally identifiable information beyond what is needed to attribute time to a mapped team member.

How Time Log Activity Appears

Each Rocketlane time entry creates a Time Log activity on the team member’s timeline. The activity title follows the format:

Client > Project > Task > Time Log

The third segment reflects the most specific work item logged against, which may be a task or a phrase depending on how time was tracked in Rocketlane. Time Log activities are displayable but not scored. They provide context for Observers rather than contributing directly to performance signals.

Integration Page Overview

The Rocketlane integration page in Settings → Services has three tabs.

  • Overview Tab - Shows the connection status, the number of subscribed and mapped users, and the date the connection was created and last modified.
  • Users Tab - Lists all Rocketlane team members pulled from your account, their mapping to WorkSights users, and their subscription status. Users with no mapped WorkSights user will not have their time entries attributed on the timeline.
  • Connections Tab - Shows each connection with its status, remote user count, and a log of recent poll cycles. Each entry in the log shows how many activities were saved or skipped in that cycle.

Data Notes

One API key connects your entire Rocketlane account. If your organization uses multiple Rocketlane accounts, each requires a separate connection.

WorkSights ingests team members only. External users and client-side contacts in Rocketlane are not imported as WorkSights users.

Troubleshooting

Time entries are not appearing on the timeline

WorkSights polls every 15 minutes, so entries from the most recent cycle may not yet be visible. If entries are still missing after 20 minutes, confirm that the team member who logged the time has been matched to a WorkSights user. Time entries with no user match are not ingested.

Entries are not appearing for some team members

Check the Users tab on the Rocketlane integration page. If a team member shows no mapped WorkSights user, their time entries will be skipped during ingestion. Use the mapping controls on that tab to assign them to the correct WorkSights user.

Entries are appearing but attributed to the wrong person

User matching is done by email address. If a team member’s Rocketlane email differs from their WorkSights email, the entry will not map correctly. Review the user mapping on the Rocketlane integration page.
