Jira Comments
Comments in Jira represent active collaboration around issues. WorkSights captures when mapped users add comments so that review and discussion activity appears on the timeline alongside issue creation and updates.
For connection steps, see Atlassian Setup.
What WorkSights Receives
WorkSights ingests the following for each comment event:
- Comment added: when a mapped user posts a comment on a Jira issue
- Issue key and summary: included for context and attribution
- Commenting user: used for mapping and display
WorkSights does not ingest the text of the comment. Only metadata is used.
How Comments Appear
Comment events appear as individual timeline entries showing the issue key, summary, and timestamp. WorkSights displays a short standardized description such as Commented on Jira issue. No message body or comment content is shown.
Data Notes
Only comments authored by mapped users generate activity in WorkSights. Comment text, WorkLogs, attachments, and Confluence activity are never received. Activity is available only after the connection is established.
Troubleshooting
If Jira comment activity is not appearing as expected:
- Confirm the commenting user is mapped in the Users tab.
- Verify the comment was added after the connection was established.
- Reconnect the integration if Jira permissions or tokens have changed.
- For persistent issues, contact support via the in-app chat.
