Deel Integration Overview

Deel is WorkSights' HR system integration. Unlike every other WorkSights integration, Deel doesn't generate activity on the timeline — it keeps your org chart and schedule data aligned with your HR system of record instead. Connecting it helps make sure managers see their actual teams and a day off reads as time off rather than looking like a quiet work day.

For connection steps, see Deel Setup.

What WorkSights Receives

Job titles and reporting lines

WorkSights reads each person's job title and manager from Deel on an hourly cycle and compares it to what's currently on file in WorkSights. Differences show up on the HR data tab as suggested changes — titles to update, reporting lines to add, and reporting lines to remove shown separately, since removing a line is the hardest to undo.

By default, these changes sit as suggestions until an admin applies them. Each can also be switched to update automatically: job titles and reporting lines each have their own auto-apply toggle, so you can automate one without the other.

Time off

Approved time off in Deel is reflected in the person's WorkSights schedule automatically, with no toggle required. A day already set by hand in WorkSights is never overwritten by a Deel leave record.

Contracted work week

WorkSights reads each person's contracted work week from Deel and shows it on their HR data lookup. It isn't applied anywhere else yet — it doesn't currently change scoring or scheduling.

People

WorkSights imports your Deel roster and matches people to WorkSights users by work email. If no match exists, WorkSights can create a new, inactive WorkSights user for that person rather than leaving them out entirely.

WorkSights never receives payslips, payroll, compensation, bank details, tax information, benefits, equity, or HR documents from Deel. Those categories are excluded at the integration level, not just left unused.

How Deel Data Appears

Deel produces no activity or timeline entries — there's nothing to see on the activity feed. Its effect shows up in two places instead: the HR data tab on the Deel integration page, and the knock-on effect an applied time-off day has on that person's existing schedule and score displays elsewhere in WorkSights.

Integration Page Overview

The Deel integration page contains three tabs:

  • HR data - Pending title and reporting-line changes, people who couldn't be matched, a per-person work-week and leave lookup, and the auto-apply toggles for titles and reporting lines
  • Users - Deel people matched to WorkSights users by work email
  • Connections - Connected Deel organizations

Data Notes

WorkSights connects to Deel using OAuth 2.0 with an Organization-level Deel app. The connection is read-only for everything except the HR data WorkSights explicitly writes when a change is applied: job title, manager, and schedule for approved leave. WorkSights never writes anything back to Deel.

People with no resolvable work email, or who are no longer employed in Deel, are skipped from title and reporting-line sync.

Troubleshooting

Someone in Deel doesn't show up in WorkSights

Confirm their Deel work email matches their WorkSights email. People with no resolvable work email, or who aren't currently employed in Deel, are skipped.

A job title or manager looks out of date

By default, title and reporting-line changes sit as suggestions on the HR data tab until an admin applies them — they don't update automatically unless auto-apply has been turned on for that data type. Check the HR data tab for a pending suggestion, or ask an admin about turning on auto-apply.

Time off was approved in Deel but the day still looks like a work day

Confirm the leave is Approved in Deel, not just requested. Also check whether that day already has a manual schedule override in WorkSights — a manual override always takes precedence over a Deel leave record.

The contracted work week shown doesn't match what I expect

This value is read from Deel as-is and shown for reference on the HR data tab's per-person lookup. It doesn't affect scoring or scheduling.
