Insights Settings is where you configure the AI layer of WorkSights. The Observers that watch your business and the skills that define how they analyze it. You can reach it from Settings → Insights in the top navigation.

The page has two tabs: Observers and Skills.

Observers

The Observers tab shows every Observer running on your account, what it watches, when it runs, and when it last produced a result.

Each row shows:

Observer — The Observer’s name, avatar, and a short description of what it analyzes.

Type — Whether the Observer is a platform default or a customized version configured for your account.

Categories — The team functions this Observer watches. Observers only analyze users assigned to the relevant categories, so keeping category assignments accurate in your Team list directly affects the quality of Observer findings.

Notify — Whether this Observer is currently configured to send notifications when it surfaces a finding.

Schedule — The day and time of the Observer’s next scheduled run, highlighted in blue.

Last Run — How long ago the Observer last ran.

Click the edit icon on any row to open the Observer’s settings and adjust its schedule, category scope, or behavior.

The Three Observers

Byte

Byte watches engineering team patterns: code contribution cadence, deployment health, velocity trends, and technical activity. Byte analyzes users assigned to engineering categories including Software Engineer, Engineering Manager, DevOps / Platform Engineer, QA Engineer, and Data Engineer.

Rev

Rev watches sales team activity patterns: customer meetings, deal progression, pipeline health, and engagement trends. Rev analyzes users assigned to revenue-facing categories including Account Executive, Business Development, Customer Success Manager, Sales, and Account Manager.

Vibes

Vibes watches organization-wide health signals: activity patterns, working hours, cross-team collaboration, and engagement. Vibes is the only Observer that watches all categories rather than a specific function.

How Observers Decide What to Surface

Observers do not notify you every time they run. Most runs find nothing worth escalating and close quietly. When an Observer does detect a signal, it works through a structured escalation process before deciding whether to notify you. By the time a finding reaches your Insights feed, it has passed through multiple levels of scrutiny. This means you can trust that what surfaces is genuinely worth your attention, not background noise.

Skills

The Skills tab shows the observation skills available on your account. It is the analytical lenses Observers use when they run. Each Observer uses one or more skills during a run, applying each as a focused lens against the same data.

Each row shows:

Skill — The skill name and a short description of what it analyzes.

Key — The internal identifier for the skill.

Subject — Whether the skill analyzes at the category level or the account level.

Period — Whether the skill runs on a daily or weekly cadence.

Used By — Which Observer uses this skill.

Status — Whether the skill is running on the platform default or a customized version for your account.

Click the edit icon on any skill to view its configuration or customize it. Customizing a skill creates an account-specific version while preserving the platform default. You can reset a customized skill back to its default at any time.

Platform Skills

WorkSights ships with a set of platform default skills covering the analytical lenses used by each Observer. Current skills include:

Commit & PR Cadence — Analyzes code contribution patterns including commit frequency, PR activity, and review participation. Category-level, daily.

Customer-Facing Meetings — Analyzes external meeting patterns for sales and customer-facing roles. Category-level, daily.

Unusual Quiet Patterns — Detects unusual silence or activity drops across the organization. Account-level, weekly. Used by Vibes.

CRM Deal Activity — Analyzes CRM pipeline activity signals for deal progression and follow-up patterns. Category-level, daily.

Deployment Activity — Analyzes deployment and release patterns for engineering teams. Category-level, daily.

Working Hours Drift — Analyzes working hours patterns for burnout risk and workload imbalance. Account-level, weekly. Used by Vibes.

Velocity Trend — Analyzes engineering velocity patterns, sprint completion, and capacity utilization. Category-level, weekly. Used by Byte.

Cross-Team Collaboration — Analyzes cross-functional interaction patterns and collaboration health. Account-level, weekly. Used by Vibes.

Task Completion — Analyzes task management patterns including completion rates, overdue items, and task throughput. Category-level, daily.
